Plush and expansive, rich with black cherry, olallieberry, floral and nutmeg flavors that cascade over a bed of fine-grained tannins, extending into a long and expressive finish.

Alcohol - 14.5%; from the oldest vines on the estate: Deep ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, medicinal black cherry, musky coffee and milk chocolate. Concentrated and juicy, with piquant peppery lift to the tight-grained flavors of red and darker berries and licorice. Serious intensity and depth here, along with an attractive restrained sweetness. Suave, fine tannins arrive late, allowing this very young wine to open out nicely on the persistent, highly perfumed finish. The peppery energy does not cross the line to herbal or green. This is built to age: I d hold it for four years and drink it over the following seven or eight. -- Stephen Tanzer

Intensely aromatic with earthy, cedary edged fruit that shows a slightly jammy, licorice framed edge to the core of blackberry and black currant aromas. Soft on entry, then turning rather firm and faceted in the mouth and displaying lovely clarity on the palate. While this is just a bit simple, there is good depth to the flavor that is here, slightly spicy with plenty of tannins on the long finish, though this does fall a touch on the finish.
